August Ministry Update
Hello and welcome to my blog!
My apprenticeship has officially started and I can hardly believe it. I hope this monthly blog is a helpful and sweet reminder of our partnership and your impact on the campus ministry at Richland/Brookhaven Community Colleges. I want to use this blog as a way to stay connected and keep you updated on what God is doing.

The Start of Something New...
On August 1st, I was licensed as a minister with 18 other apprentices. It was sweet to be able to verbally confirm my commitment to the community.

Getting Started and Staff Retreat!!
On August 2nd, my fellow apprentices and I did orientation and then headed to Staff Retreat! This year, it was located in Bridgeport, TX on campgrounds right by a beautiful lake. I loved being able to bond and get to know FOCUS staff members from the other campuses. As a full staff, we got to take time to talk through the main goals of the school year and encourage each other. It helped me to get in the mind-frame that I am now on staff, and not just a student anymore.
Some highlights of the staff retreat were getting to know my Richland/Brookhaven team, participating in Guitar Hero/Karaoke during free time in the evenings, and being in fellowship with each other and the Lord.
Below is a picture of our full staff that is located across DFW on 12 different campuses. Some exciting news is we are pioneering on five more campuses this year. (Two campuses of TCC, a new campus for Collin College, NCTC in downtown Denton, and Brookhaven Community College) So, please be praying for that!

What is to come...
From August 8th to 13th, FOCUS is hosting SICM, Student Institute of Campus Ministry. Every summer, we send our potential and returning leaders to this week-long leadership conference. It is usually held in Washington state, but due to Covid, we are hosting one in Texas. About 200 college students from the 12 FOCUS campuses will be coming together during this time to learn about becoming a mature disciple, then, in turn, going out to make and mature disciples on their college campus.
I am particularly excited about this school year. Most of the incoming sophomores on our campuses haven't even stepped foot on campus due to Covid. That means, technically, we will have two 'freshmen-like' classes seeking friendship and community! How exciting is that?! Since SICM is happening 2 weeks before the semester starts, all that we learn will be fresh on our minds and ready to go.
Please be praying for the incoming freshmen and sophomores as the start of the semester is around the corner. And for us, campus ministers and student leaders, to be welcoming and excited to meet them!
